GDP - West Orange, NJ
West Orange, New Jersey’s GDP has proven himself as one of the hardest working acts in hip hop. His upcoming sophomore full-length “Useless Eaters” CD/LP is out March 29th on Run For Cover Records and was recorded by GDP and fellow collaborator Pistol in various locations throughout the tri-state area and mixed and mastered while on an independently booked 52 date national tour. After years of relentless touring and consistent releases, GDP has gained respect from many of the same hip hop legends that inspired him growing up as well as forward thinking hardcore and punk artists. He has shared the stage with artists ranging from Wu Tang Clan, RZA, Dead Prez, Tame One, Rah Digga, and Masta Ace to Trap Them, Skeletonwitch, Suburban Scum, Product Of Waste, and Dead to Me. In a genre where artists are not typically concerned with producing cohesive pieces of music, “Useless Eaters” is just that. Combining futuristic grime with homage to hip hop’s past, “Useless Eaters” is GDP’s most focused effort as well as his darkest. Lyrically, the album fits together like puzzle pieces made of sharp glass with content ranging from cynical to sincere, ignorant to truly insightful. Guest stars on the album include NJ legends Young Zee (The Outsidaz), Tame One (Artifacts) and Pistol (SlangCorp). Beats were mostly handled by Melbourne, Australia’s Aoi who made 8 of the 11 songs, while DOS4GW from Perth, Australia produced 2, and the first single “Neural Circuitry” was produced by West Orange’s own Frozen Gentlemen. A jaw-dropping video for “Neural Circuitry” will be released in February directed by Josh Sandler, Pistol and GDP himself.
