First Release From New Run For Cover Records Imprint
Guitar pop extraordinaire Tony Molina has returned with the announcement of his new album, In The Fade. The record is due out August 12th via Summer Shade, a new imprint from Run For Cover Records, curated by Madison Woodward (Fury, Object of Affection). In The Fade encapsulates everything that's so appealing about Molina's songwriting. The album flies by in just 18 minutes, bouncing from satisfyingly crunchy power chords, to scrappy jangle, to legitimately Beatles-esque arrangements in songs that are always under two minutes and always unbelievably catchy.
To mark the announcement Molina has shared the album's first single "The Last Time," a driving cut of fuzzed-out pop that throws guitar-harmonies in with just four lines of warm vocal melodies. Be prepared to immediately hit repeat.
Horse Jumper of Love recently announced their highly anticipated third full-length, Natural Part, due out June 17th from Run For Cover Records. Today the Boston-based slowcore champions are sharing another early taste of the record with its almost-title-track "The Natural Part."
The eleven songs found on Natural Part push the dynamics of Horse Jumper of Love's sound even further than ever before, resulting in a deeply captivating record that stays with the listener long after it's 30 minute runtime. Where lead single "I Poured Sugar In Your Shoes" was a sweetly hook-laden song (which drew attention from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPR, BrooklynVegan, and more), "The Natural Part" leans into Horse Jumper of Love's ability to use hauntingly minimalistic arrangements to create a sense of mood and highlight vocalist/guitarist Dimitri Giannopoulos' surreal lyrisicsm.
Young Guv (aka songwriter Ben Cook) released his latest record, GUV III, in March, but the ever-prolific musician is already back with its sequel, GUV IV, due out June 24th from RFC and Hand Drawn Dracula (Canada). Where GUV III encapsulates Cook's most instantly accessible guitar pop songwriting, GUV IV represents the most sonically adventurous side of Young Guv--effortlessly moving between hazy, Madchester-inspired rave ups, twangy California jangle, and even homemade sophisti-pop--while always retaining Cook's undeniable melodies.
Today Young Guv has shared another early taste of GUV IV, with "Nowhere At All." The track follows lead single "Change Your Mind" (which drew praise from the likes of Stereogum, Paste Magazine, Uproxx, BrookylnVegan, New Commute, and more) and finds Cook right at home with a shimmering, drum-machine-led pop tune that glides right into your head and never leaves.
Sadurn have released their stunning debut record, Radiator, out today via Run For Cover Records. The group might be Philadelphia's best kept musical secret, but not for long, having recently earned attention from the likes of Stereogum, NPR, The FADER, BrooklynVegan, Paste Magazine, them., MTV News, and more. Led by songwriter Genevieve DeGroot (they/them), Sadurn have created the rare debut album that feels fully realized in every way. Radiator is a perfect meeting of warm production and intimate songwriting that gracefully walks a line between alt-country, bedroom pop, and sparse indie, making for an extraordinarily affecting listen that's easy to love and impossible to shake.
To celebrate the release, Sadurn have shared a live session of Radiator's title track. The performance captures not only the band members' immense talents but also the intangible creative chemistry between the four players that makes their album and live shows so special.
