Since forming in 2017, LANNDS have been steadily releasing EPs and always pushing their sound in new directions. Music For The Future follows lotus deluxe, a reissue of their 2020 EP with new material that marked their first collaboration with RFC. Now Music For The Future fulfills the promise of their earlier work, pushing the sound to new heights. Entirely produced, engineered, and mixed by Squillace and Woodard, the album reflects the duo's uniquely in-house approach to making such sweeping, widescreen music. “When we do it ourselves, even if it’s a little more 'home done' sounding, it’s just more us,” Squillace says. Years of collaboration have allowed the duo to embrace each other’s creative skills – whether it be Woodard’s blossoming layers of vocal melodies, or Squillace’s soulful piano chords – and shape them into a sound they can truly feel at home in, without the weight of outside influence. The result is a sound that LANNDS can truly call their own.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Superheaven releasing their debut album, Jar. To celebrate, the band have announced a new reissue of the record, due out April 28th from Run For Cover Records. With updated artwork and two bonus tracks—“Siblings,” a Jar-era one-off single and “Lucky,” a vinyl-exclusive b-side from the LP sessions—the reissue is an essential showcase of one of the most important releases in Run For Cover's classic-packed catalog.
Listen to Jar | Preorder Jar (10 Year Anniversary Edition):
Released in 2013, Jar was a highly anticipated breakthrough album from the eastern-Pennsylvania four piece. Superheaven, along with contemporaries like Balance and Composure, Basement, and Title Fight, led the way with a new wave of heavy-yet-tuneful rock coming out of the punk scene. Working with producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA, the songs showcase a talent for writing songs that are equal parts towering guitars and emotionally charged hooks--all mixed with the size and clarity of major label grunge breakthrough records like Nirvana’s Nevermind or Failure’s Fantastic Planet.
Will Yip discussed his relationship with Jar, saying:
"Jar will always be one of the most important records of my life. When someone asks me about my favorite records I’ve ever produced, Jar is always in that list. From the second we tracked demos for this record, I knew Jar was going to be a classic. The band was so ahead of the curve with their songwriting, their sonic identity, and their realness. Everything they’ve ever done was 100% them. The band pushed me on a sonic level and I couldn’t be more grateful, it really help me with making a mental blue print on how to build a perfect feeling rock record. Jar forever."
Superheaven will also be performing the album in full at a run of Jar anniversary shows in the spring. See full itinerary below.

waveform* have announced their new album, Antarctica, due out May 12th via Run For Cover Records. Antarctica is the Connecticut-based duo's most accomplished work to date, showcasing a dynamic blend of shoegaze sprawl, fuzzed-out hooks, and bedroom pop intimacy wrapped around a core of deeply satisfying songwriting.

To celebrate the album's announcement, waveform* have shared its first single, "Lonely." The song opens Antarctica with dreamy keyboards and acoustic guitars, slowly unfurling a gentle melody that instantly gets stuck in your head. It's a perfect introduction to the way waveform*'s manage to create atmosphere to spare without ever sacrificing song-craft.

Since 2018 waveform* have been earning a cult following with an already impressive catalog of releases, and now Antarctica offers something for longtime fans and new listeners alike. Made up of songwriters Jarett Denner and Dan Poppa, the band have steadily expanded and honed their sound, with each homemade album building on the potential of the last. Antarctica finds the duo fully collaborating for the first time, blurring the line between the two's strengths to make songs that truly feel like waveform* coming into their own sonic identity. The songs pivot on a dime between hushed indie folk and towering walls of guitar, as Poppa and Denner's lyrics explore solitude and isolation, evoking vast empty expanses but also moments of diary-like specificity. The result is an album that unfolds with an impressive mix of intimacy and mood, drawing you in with its lush arrangements and instant catchiness, but revealing more secrets with every listen.

"...a sleek and propulsive take on indie folk, with Weinman’s voice gleaming amidst clattering drums, chiming banjo, and a blustery wall of sound..." - Stereogum

Runnner, aka LA-based songwriter Noah Weinman, has released his debut full-length, Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out. Out today, the album hinges on Runnner's unique mix of hifi/lofi dynamics and intricate arrangements that incorporate guitars, banjo, synths, piano, and most importantly, Weinman's warm vocals and inviting melodies. It's a culmination of years of songwriting and home-recording that manages to feel both intimate and cinematic all at once, and has already drawn attention from the likes of Pitchfork, The FADER, Stereogum, Uproxx, Paste Magazine, Line of Best Fit, and many more.
To mark the album's release Weinman has teamed with BrooklynVegan to share an in-depth track-by-track breakdown of the entirety of Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out. "Anyone Invested in Rock’s Future Needs to Back Narrow Head" - THE PIT [Read The Interview]
With "Moments of Clarity", Narrow Head's third full-length, the band dashes away any shadow of romantic nostalgia or indulgent self-deprecation. Channeling equal parts pop-star conceit and weathered sobriety, the band has, in the truest and most basic sense, arrived at a record that only they could have written. "Moments of Clarity" does not speak to or build upon the past. Rather, it cuts straight to the heart of the matter, taking the struggle, brilliance, and mystery of contemporary life as its direct subject.
STREAM | ORDER VINYL & APPAREL | SUBSCRIBE TO MAGIC CIRCLE
Longtime Narrow Head fans will undoubtedly still recognize the band’s signature marriage of brutality and grace, and many of the core themes of desolation, loss, and self-medication that the band established on their prior records Satisfaction (2016) and 12th House Rock (2020) continue to haunt the edges of Moments of Clarity. All the same, Moments rises above the darkness with a sense of elegant repose. While not exactly optimistic in outlook, these songs simmer with a certain life affirming desire, a burning passion to transcend pure cynicism and self-destruction, if only for even a few seconds.
This newfound lust for life is baked into the essence of the songs themselves. Each riff, melody, and drum fill has been rigorously constructed and pushed towards its most simplified, base instinct. There are no frills or unnecessary ornamentation, only pure sensation in the absence of conscious thought. Duarte credits the presence of Sonny DiPerri (NIN, Protomartyr, My Bloody Valentine), who recorded, mixed, and produced the record, with elevating Narrow Head’s sound. Prior to recording, the band spent a week with DiPerri at a house in Sherman, TX, reworking and refining the record with a sense of surgical intent, sculpting each melody and hook until it had reached its logical conclusion. The band then relocated with DiPerri to Jeff Friedl’s (Devo, A Perfect Circle) home-studio in Los Angeles, where they completed the tracking of the record under the reprieve of an uncharacteristically mild Californian late-summer.
You can catch Narrow Head touring North America now with White Reaper and in mid May the band kicks off a headlining tour after their performance at Sick World Festival in Las Vegas. See below for a full list of dates and get tickets here.
